29th February - Ali Baba and the Forty Theives

29th February - Jamie Roberts
Today’s rehearsal we concentrated on 'Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves'
We had a good lesson today because everyone concentrated on what we needed to do. We recapped on what we already did, but we needed to work on the cue lines and make sure they were a lot quicker and we did the transition from scene to scene. Today we worked on the forty thieves and we had to show the element on them. I felt they were very much fire. And we had to show this by our body language and facial expression.
We then worked on the part were Ali Baba’s wife finds out about the gold. Laura did this very well. David (Ali Baba) and Laura worked on their relationship together, (being husband and wife)
In the scene I have to move the flats on stage so we set where I had to move them to. I also had to work out where I needed to keep my next props so they wouldn’t get in the way and also wouldn’t be on stage.

I felt I worked well in this lesson because I was focus at the start of the lesson but one of the problems was I was getting very stressed in the rehearsals because when we had to keep going over the scenes I had to keep moving the flats. I think I could have improved this by staying more positive and my focus would have stayed throughout. I did make sure I had all of my props before I started so I wouldn’t have to run across the scene. I also was always there when I needed to move the flats.

27th February - The Little Beggar

The Little Beggar.
We went through the little beggar up to the doctor’s house. We found it hard to show the stairs and the tailor and his wife to walk up the stairs and show. We used sticks to create the banisters, and they would hold on to them and then walked forward. We then moved the sticks down showing they were moving upwards.
I felt I worked well because I came in on my cue and I knew my lines, this made things a lot faster and I was also able to move better and be able to work on my part more. In my scene with Joe (the Little Beggar) we had to do a fighting scene, as I was off script I was able to move more freely. I felt Joe and I worked well because we were both focus. This help a lot because if we messed about someone could get hurt.

23rd February - Ali Baba, The Little Beggar

Aim - Go through pro log and finish.
- Go through Ali Baba and the forty thieves.
- The story of the little beggar.
First Lesson - Finished our prolog, we needed to make some touch ups to bring the audience into the story more. We also went though Ali Baba to show the group the rest of the work we did wednesday. We worked in the small bits in the pro log and Ali Baba, this improved it because this make it sharper. It also bring the audience more intrigued into the story.
I found we as a group have worked well because we haven\'t has as much chatter, also everyone today has just got on with the work.
I think I need to improve on when I\'m on the sides e.g. Way I sit, make sure I\'m still in charter.

2nd February - 2nd lesson Ali Baba, The Little Beggar

- Go through Ali Baba and the forty thieves.

14th March - Es-Sindibad Photo

14th March - The story of Es-sindibad the sailor

Today we went over Es-sindibad. We did run though of what we did last tuesday to recap our mind and added to it. We then went though as much as we could throughout the lesson, and came up what the story had told us.

We used mark work with what we did. I was the page and had to wear a mark, I found this hard because you need to show express through your body and are not able to use your face. We also have come up with the idea or pre recording the text because if we are using marks we can not be heard clearly enough.
We use sticks to make a tree and a house, this is very plain and keeps the focus on the charters. When we move into the house, it is filled with colours and cloth, this shows good contrast because of the colour.
Though out the story we use the sticks, we use them for sounds, props and for creating things. The sticks are versatile.

What a element

2nd February 2012

Aims: define what a element is.
Explore taking the dynamic of an element into your body.
What is an element? Something that builds up to something.
Natural element: Fire, water, earth and air.
"We are like marble, every character is there waiting to be carved out and created" - Leonardo Di Vinci
Meaning, we are all the same but we have things that build us up differently.
Happiness, Sadness, love, fear and anger.
In todays lesson we had the feeling with earth, fire, water and air. I found this was good but there was a lot of contrast in it.
I found it hard because having fire and love was a big contrast. This made it hard to do.

Elements

Apply the elements to work to a charter in arabian nights and evaluate it after. (If it worked or didn\'t)
Shahrazad - Earth (she\'s wants to help)
Dinarzad - Air, she\'s good and goes with it.
Vizer - Water - because can be strong but also can be soft and go with it
Shahrayar - Fire (he is stong, powerful) Water (can be calm, soft spot)

We did well in our play, we didn\'t make it funny, but we wanted to keep it serous
